Attachments greyed out in Outlook 15.10.0 for Mac

0

I make reference to the problem described in discussion: http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/153/t/294597.aspx

Apparently, I am facing the same problem:

Windows Outlook 2013 and OWA are working fine. The issue is with Outlook for Mac client only. Very few, selected, E-Mails show an attachment including paper clip but file name greyed out which cannot be replied/ forwarded and/ or the attachment saved.

I would appreciate some advise. Thanks!

Error when sending attachments larger than about 2mb

Hi,

I am getting the following error when sending attachments anything larger than about 2mb

An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic.

Error code: -1001

I am using outlook for mac 15.10.0 (150508) on OS X 10.10.3

Access is via an office 365 account, so I am using exchange and unable to change ports etc as described in other posts.

Problem has been occurring for a few weeks, signing into office 365 and attaching via browser works fine.

RE: hundreds of duplicate calendar meetings for a recurring invite

Hi Brandon,

To narrow down the root cause of the issue, I’d like to confirm some information.

1. Are you using the same account in different devices such as a mobile device? If so, please exit them for the present.

2. Is this an Office 365 account configured in the Outlook?

3. Please login to OWA (https://outlook.office.com/owa) and confirm whether these duplicate items appear in OWA.

4. Can you delete some of these entries in the Outlook for Mac or OWA?

I’m looking forward to your reply.

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Torsten,

When we use Outlook desktop or Outlook for Mac client for our email account, the profile could be corrupted by some probable causes which leads to some issues like features not work or any buttons are missing. In this situation, the general steps we can try are to recreate a new profile/identity.

To my knowledge, there are no such settings in Outlook Web App that can control the Outlook for Mac features like saving an attachment. In this situation, to confirm if the issue is related to Office 365 Online mailbox settings, I would suggest you create a new profile/identity and set up a Hotmail or Gmail email account to see the issue persists.

Moreover, I have provided you an Office 365 test email account via Private Message. You can also set up the test account our your Outlook for Mac for test. To access the private message, please:
1. Go to the Your details section on the right side of the community site.
2. Click Private Messages.
3. Click the subject title of the response to read the message.

Please let us know the results after your tests. Awaiting your updates.

Best Regards,
Alex

RE: Why the shared calendar is not showing in Outlook 2011 for Mac

Hi DINDOGERON,

This error message seems caused by the lack of the permission.

I’d like to check the permission on this shared calendar.

1. Connect to Exchange online remote PowerShell.

2. Run the following command to check whether other users have permission on this shared calendar.

Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity user@domain.com:\calendar

Please let me know the results after running the commands above.

Thanks,

Frank

Why the shared calendar is not showing in Outlook 2011 for Mac

1. Lyra shared her calendar for several users

2. After these users added the shared calendar, its not showing in the Outlook 2011 for Mac users. For Windows users, Office2013 - its showing no issue.

on the Outlook Web App, shared calendars are showing - no issue.

Outlook not sending emails, although they are in my sent messages folder?

For no apparent reason yesterday my 2016 outlook stopped sending emails, although the emails were in my sent messages folder and not in my outbox, which suggests outlook sent them.  I have ran a few test emails and they are not being received by the recipient.  I have checked my account settings and everything is correct, I have a green light against my outlook account to confirm everything is good, I have checked the account server sending emails via mac mail, and I can send emails fine.  The issue seems to be with Outlook not releasing the emails.

This is driving me mad!

Any help would be appreciated.

Frank,

1.  Yes, iPad and iPhone.  I quit the application for both.

2. Yes, I have an Office 365 account linked to this Outlook account (not sure I get the question)

3. Yes, duplicates appear in OWA

4. Yes, I can delete an entry on the local client

thanks,

Brandon

I'm running v15.6 Outlook for Mac.  I created a recurring meeting and now I have almost 200 duplicates.  Please let me know what you need from me.  The screenshot below, notice Friday at 5:00 looks like a black bar.  Those are all duplicate recurring meetings.

Hi Toby,

Thanks for the response. Answers are as follows:

1. There is only one other person on office 365, they do not experience the same problem, however they are a windows user.

2. I only have the one mac, so do not have another computer to try, however I have tried various different WiFi and USB modem connections with the same problem.

3. I have just tried rebuilding the database and it looks like the problem might be corrected  now. I will test again on Monday over a different connection at the office and see if it persists.

4. Issue was happening permanently.

I will report back on Monday after testing on different connections after which we can close the query.

Thank you for the help

Hi 14073433A14073433A,

Recently, we have received several reports about the issue. Now we are investigating the issue. For the temporary server issues, we'd like to suggest you do the following to work around it.
1. Force quitting the Office Setup Assistant.
2. Open any of the Office application. You will be promoted to activate again.
3. Enter the account and click Next.
4. If neither of these two boxes will response, please click by spamming tab + enter for several times until it response.

Meanwhile, we have a primary thread focusing on this: https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/153/t/347314.aspx. Once we get any updates from the related team, we'll share them there.

For other community members, if you encounter the similar issue, please pay attention to the primary thread for the update.

We appreciate your understanding and time.

Best Regards,
Alice Wang

Hi Gavin,

To better understand the situation, can you please confirm the following information?

1. What is the detailed version of the Outlook client? Can you please update it to the latest version?

2. Do other users in your organization have the same problem?

3. Do you receive any error messages when sending the emails? If any, please send us the complete error messages for analysis.

4. Is it an Office 365 email account that you have configured in the Outlook client?

5. If it is an Office 365 email account, then how did you configure it, through Exchange, POP or IMAP? Do you have the same problem in Outlook Web App (https://outlook.office365.com/owa/)?

Regards,

Robert

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for your updates.

For "Yes, I can delete an entry on the local client", do you mean that the deleted items will come back after deleting them?

If you can delete them and they will not be back, you can do it as the workaround now. If the issue occurs the next time you create any recurring meetings, we need do more tests to identify the root cause.

Please do the test below(this test needs to involve your Office 365 Administrator to finish it):
1. Connect to PowerShell.
2. Run get-casmailbox.
3. Run set-casmailbox -identity yourmailbox -MapiEnabled $false.

4. Referring to the same command above, disable ActiveSyncEnabled, PopEnabled and ImapEnabled, only leave OWAEnabled"True".
5. After finishing the process above, only OWA can work. In this situation, create a recurring meeting in OWA and check if the same issue occurs.

To do this test, we can check if the issue is related to the Exchange Online server side.

In addition, I would like to also confirm if the other users in your organization encounter the same issue.

Any updates are appreciated.

Best regards,
Kid Yang

Reoccuring meeting duplicating 1800x and wont delete

I tried to delete a reoccurring fortnightly meeting and instead it just started duplicating, there is now over 1800 duplications and trying to delete them wont do anything. I am on a mac so cannot work out how to fix it as i noticed there was a similar thread here (http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/153/t/291867.aspx)but for windows.

RE: Cannot sign in to Office 365 on mac

I had a support session with Microsoft and this was resolved (magically) by simply doing a restart of the Mac.

After a restart, the sign in process worked smoothly.

The solution was to restart the Mac.

After a restart, the sign in process went smoothly.

Thanks to Microsoft online support staff who gave that advice.

The solution was to restart the Mac and try again.

After a restart, the sign in worked smoothly.

Thanks to Microsoft support online assistants who helped with this.

PS. This is my accepted answer, but there seems to be a bug on the forum where if I accept my own answer as "accepted", that answer post disappears. :)

This is similar to the issue stated in http://community.office365.com/themes/groups/generic/forums/thread.aspx?ForumID=153&ForumThreadID=347314&GroupKeys=en-us/ but that thread is marked "This question is answered", which for me, it is not.

This is a brand new Office 2011 Mac installation on a new iMac. The installer came from the Office 365 website after I signed up.

I have never been able to get past this problem.

1. Click on Microsoft Word in the dock to start Word.

2. The "Get Started with Office 2011" window pops up.

3. I click "Sign in to an existing Office 365 subscription".

4. I get the "Sign In to Office" window with the blank white-bordered square.

5. That's it. I am stuck here. At this point nothing can be clicked. It basically seems like the application has frozen. The "View Privacy Statement" link does nothing. The "Back" button does not respond. The Word menu at the top of the screen is unresponsive (so I cannot click Word > Quit). Eventually I have to Force Quit to make this window (and Word) close.

I would really like to be able to use Word to do my work here. What can be done?

Please do not mark this topic as "answered" like the other thread (http://community.office365.com/themes/groups/generic/forums/thread.aspx?ForumID=153&ForumThreadID=347314&GroupKeys=en-us/), because the solutions described in that thread are for different problems.

Hi Jeremy,

According to my research, the issue you are experiencing is related to the office client. I found a similar thread which can be accessed by following the link below:
Track Changes and New Comment Crash

Our forum mainly focuses on the online related issues of Office 365 for Business. If the method mentioned in the thread doesn't solve the issue, to ensure that you receive the best support, it is recommended you post it in our dedicated Office client forum.

Thanks for your understanding.
