RE: OneDrive for Business for Mac OSX

The main benefit of the sync client for my organization is not the duplication of files but the use of familiar file management in Finder.  As I understand it, without the sync client running you will always either have to create a new file from the web interface and then launch your application, or create and save it locally from the application and then upload it to the cloud. For many users that is neither intuitive nor efficient.  With the sync client running you just work as you always have, but with the knowledge and intent that your main storage is indeed in the cloud facilitated by a behind-the-scenes intermediary that looks like what you've always used.
