I'm having the same problem with Exchange 2013 and Office for Mac 15.6.
1. User mailbox
2. Each recurring event of the shared calendar
3. No error on personal calendar
4. I will try it.
Error: "Can't show the recurring calendar event [......] from the shared calendar [......]
Details: "To see this event, you'll need Editor or higher permissions for this shared calendar."
Error code: -19999
