I will add one PS here.... I also use Apps4Rent.com for hosted SharePoint and guess I will turn to that resource for my project at hand as I have just verifed (by actually setting up a SOAP and REST data source), that these features are fully support in the env. And cheap too, 1GB is about $10 US/month with unlimited users.
