Hi Customer,

I understand you are repeatedly asked to activate Office for Mac 2011 on your computer. I’m sorry for such the annoyance it has caused. I have checked the relevant Office activation service. There isn’t a service incident causing such issues. In the meanwhile, we have also received feedback from the Office for Mac forum that some users have the same issue.

Based on my research, we have dug into this issue and done relevant research from our Office for Mac forum. Here is the conclusion we get:

This problem occurs because the Office for Mac 2011 licensing file is missing or because the Installation ID for the license does not match the installation ID of the computer on which Office for Mac 2011 is installed. These are example scenarios when this may occur:

1. You have connected the external 4 drive unit in a RAID 5 configuration on eSATA. This is an unsupported configuration by Office for Mac. The workaround is to use Firewire 800 instead of eSATA.
2. You copy all Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 folders and files, including the licensing file, to a second computer, and then you try to start an Office application on the second computer. In this case, you are prompted for license information because the information for the program and for the second computer does not match.
3. You copy all Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 folders and files except the licensing file to a second computer, and you try to start an Office application on the second computer. In this case, you are prompted for license information because the information for the program is missing.
4. Your licensing files are corrupted.
5. Your Office for Mac installation is corrupted.
6. The name of your computer's hard disk drive contains special characters. For example, the name contains slashes.
7. Your user profile is not working correctly.

As this issue is related to client configurations, I’m sorry that we have limited support and resources for client-related issues. If the issue persists, I suggest you post a new question in our Office for Mac forum. Our engineers and community members there are more specialized in client configurations and they will help you sort the issue out effectively. The forum address is provided as below. Your understanding and continued patience are highly appreciated. Thanks for your cooperation.
