Outlook for Mac (2015) is not syncing Inbox and is incredibly slow on syncing calendar

This is sort of in response to a previous thread that appears to have been somewhat resolved for that user.  (http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/153/t/280914.aspx)

For the past few days, my sync pending for this folder has been intermittent and the same with the calendar.  It seems to stop synching and then pick up synching at odd times of the day.  Yet, if I log into my mailbox through the university's internet portal, I am able to access email that have not synched yet.  It seems to be the same issue that Reinhard had in the previous thread.  It seems to synch, and then it doesn't synch until it decides it wants to synch again.  It's a little frustrating, but fortunately I have another way to access my email.

Please let me know what additional information I might be able to provide that would be helpful.  Thank you!

Do you have any updates on this issue? Please post back at your convenience.

Subscribed to/added a calendar (.ics) -- how to unsubscribe?

I subscribed to or otherwise added a campus events calendar, thinking that it would be something I could toggle on/off, but it turns out it simply adds hundreds of events to my calendar and I can't make them hidden. I use Office 365 for Mac via a web browser. Thoughts? I simply need these things gone.

Hi Anna,

Thanks. Please can you modify the subscription to 'In Grace Period' so I can update this to monthly such that I can then cancel this un-needed single license.

Office 365 for MAC book pro

Just got my first MAC - mainly as we need to develop apps for IOS. I was hoping this would still work with Office 365 and Microsoft Office. As a company we pay for two office 365 license and also are a Microsoft Partner Action Pack which entitles us to multiple office Pro licenses plus other things.

Anyway I am really lost. Can use the Office 365 via web browser okay, but was hoping to be able to work offline. As an example NOTEBOOK says it needs to activate, but when I attempt to sign in with the corporate 365 account it say that account it already signed in.

Q. Should I be able to run Notepad, Excl, Work, Outlook on this new Mac Book Pro given I have Action Pack and also office 365 or am I missing something. Working through the Office 365 admin it talks about iPhones and iPads  but nothing specifically about MAC Books?

Regards

Rob

RE: OneDrive for Business Mac Beta Crashes upon start

A possible fix for those who are following this thread: After almost a month of nothing, MS experts told me that hidden .DS_Store files, which are hidden files on Mac OS X, are causing the problem.

The following are instructions from me, not from them, so follow at your own peril:

  1. If you still have local copies of your OneDrive for Business folders on your Mac, follow the steps here to show all hidden files on your Mac.
  2. Once you verify that you can see the hidden files on your laptop, browse to your local copy of your OneDrive for Business folder. Delete any file extensions that are prohibited, including .DS_store files (KB article here with all the prohibited file types).
  3. Attempt to launch the OneDrive for Business for Mac application again.

I haven't verified that this works, as I no longer have a local copy of my folders. My hunch is that when you simply copy and paste folders from your Mac into your local OneDrive folders, that those hidden files are also copied and cause a whole bunch of issues. Can someone try this and let me know if it works?

The recurring appointment ended on March 27th and the repeated sending of this deleted appointment ended then also.  Never figured out why it happened, but was sent to 2 Invitees more than 1600 times each.  Glad that's over with.

I set a recurring appointment and invited 2 users.  I later cancelled that appointment and sent a cancellation to those 2 users which they accepted.  However, since that time both users have been receiving thousands of meeting invites for the cancelled appointment.  I can see them in my Sent folder, often being sent 5-6 every minutes.  The appointment is no longer in my calendar, but I can't seem to get my Outlook to stop sending this meeting request.  Please help.

Hi Robert,

Currently, we have received several posts with similar issue about high CPU running issue on OneDrive for Business on Mac.

Does this issue happened after installing Office 2016 Mac Preview? If this is the case, I'd like to explain that the engineering team is aware on this and since this is a beta client, it may contain issues as we continue working to improve the app. Here are the options going forward.

Option 1: Choose to install either Office 2016 Mac Preview OR OneDrive for Business Mac Preview on your system.

Option 2: Clean up the cache every time you start the ODB process

Close OneDrive for Business Mac Preview
Delete ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Microsoft/AppData/Microsoft/Office/15.0/OfficeFileCache

NOTE: ~ is shorthand for the user’s home directory in the file system.

Restart OneDrive for Business Mac Preview

Unable to Activate Microsoft Outlook for Mac (15.1.8)

I am struggling to activate Microsoft Outlook for Mac.

1. Initially, I began with the problem discussed on http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/153/t/277811.aspx where I was getting this error on activation "805240834". I got it fixed by the steps pointed out regarding clearing out UBF8T346G9.Office

2. However, this used to happen every couple of weeks and I had to reactivate it each time. Have done this like 10 times and it's pretty bad being moved to offline mode every few weeks

3. Now, I am not even able to activate and not able to use desktop client at all. When I click the button to Activate, it shows a popup where I enter email id and then choose my work account. Thereafter I go through SSO workflow and provide my LDAP credentials and token, but then rather than showing the activating message and Outlook getting activated (As it did till few days back), I am logged into my Outlook mail in the popup window that was opened. Control is not returned back to Outlook and activation does not happen

Any quick help would be really appreciated

I do not have Microsoft Office 2016 Preview installed.   I started having the CPU issues after recently installing OneDrive Business on my Mac. My issue is regarding the installation of OneDrive Business.

OneDrive Business (MAC OS X) Crashes

Since installing  OneDrive for business on my Mac it's running 90% of CPU power constantly.

I have tried restarting my MacBook Pro.  Once restarted, I get a pop up message "problem occurred with accessing the Office Document Cache. Do you want to Repair this problem?” If answered Yes, this open the Microsoft Upload Center. Have emptied the Office Document Cache using the Upload Center preferences numerous time and this does not resolve the problem.

I have to manually Quit OneDrive for Business from the Menu Bar.

I use:

Mac OS X 10.10.2 (Yosemite), current on all software updates.

So the suggestion I posted above from the MS support folks doesn't work.

Currently the app isn't crashing after installing on a fresh version of the OS. Sad it came down to that though.

RE: SharePoint Online Library Sync for Mac?

I too have been testing OneDrive for Business Preview for the Mac and am also very concerned about this feature. We must have the Sync capability on the Mac OS and as Curtis mentioned it looks like it's going to work but nothing happens.

Please tell us if Sync will be featured in the RTM version. It is a huge deal for our company also. It's already bad enough that the Mac users don't want to use LYNC because of the constant issues on the Mac client. I'd really like to be able to tell them that Sync will work.

We just want to know what to tell our users, give them hope that Microsoft is going to get this right. The tools have all the appearance of great products but really poor implementation for our Mac users.

SharePoint Online Library Sync for Mac?

Hi, Been testing OneDrive for business for MAC beta and it works OK as long as you only need to sync to your Personal site in SharePoint online.

Before My company will move off DropBox and go with O365, we must have the same functionality across Windows PC and Macs. So far the only thing missing is the offline Sync of a SharePoint library on the Mac platform. Our business has a need to sync SharePoint departmental library content for offline editing. OneDrive for business on the Mac does not do this.  The library sync button in SharePoint pops up a dialog that looks like it is going to work, but nothing ever happens when the "Sync now" button is clicked.  It all works great on the Windows platform. We can sync to our personal site in SharePoint online using OneDrive for Business, and we can sync (Non-personal) SharePoint online libraries down to our PCs for offline editing. not so on the Mac.

Can anyone tell me whether this Library Sync feature will be enabled on the RTM version of OneDrive for Business on the MAC? Its a show stopper here for serious business use of SharePoint online if its not going to be supported.

Thanks,

office 365 - onedrive for business - "we can't connect to the specified SharePoint site"

Short summary: I've had a OneDrive for Business folder shared with me, which I can access perfectly fine through the web interface, but when I attempt to "sync" locally with my machine, I eventually get a "We can't connect to the specified SharePoint site..." after being asked for my Microsoft Account credentials three times.

Got "we can't connect to the specified SharePoint site" If I attempt to "Sync Now", after clicking on 'Sync Now'.

Hi Daniel,

Does the issue persist by reinstalling Office for Mac? If so, please let us know with any update so that we can assist you further.

Thanks,
