Office 365 ProPlus

I have an office 365 ProPlus account through work and I have installed it on my work Surface tablet, my Galaxy S4 and my iPad however I can't seem to get it to work on my Macbook Pro.

I had an office 365 subscription with office for mac installed on my macbook. I have since deleted it - following the steps in this video. However when I try to activate the subscription I keep getting the error:

"Sign in failed because the password is incorrect or the sign-in name does not exist."

I have no issue logging into portal.office.com with the same login details. I had thought this was something to do with having previously had office 365 installed on my mac. I have even deleted One Drive but neither worked.

Hi Robert,

Considering the message "problem occurred with accessing the Office Document Cache. Do you want to Repair this problem", it indicates the issue is related to the cache. So I'd like to confirm whehter there is any improvement after you delete the cache files mentioned above.

Initially, please try the following steps to re-install the OneDrive for Business Mac sync client and see the outcome:

1. Exit the app completely.
2. Move the app to Trash.
3. Go up to the Menu bar > Go > Go to Folder... > type in ~/library/Application Support> Go.
4. Find and remove the OneDriveBusiness folder.
5. Re-install the app.

If the issue persists after clearing all the related cache files, including Office File cache and OneDrive for Business cache files, I'd like to confirm further:
1. The version of your OneDrive for Business sync client;
2. Is it OneDrive for Business Mac sync client Preview downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45519
3. What are the other Office applications installed on your Mac?
4. Can you provide us with full screenshot if there is any error message for investigation?

You can post screenshots in our forum by clicking Use rich formatting and selecting the Insert Image icon.

Best regards,
Mills Fan

Hi Kid. Apologies for the delay in replying. I have created a number of test entries with colleagues, each time doing something different, and am trying to reliably replicate. Once I can do this I will reply with the details.

Duplicate recurring calendar entries

I have a recurring call with two colleagues on the same Office 365 account invited to participate. The entry duplicates itself in my calendar (see attached screenshot) so I have multiple copies of the same meeting. I use three Macs, each with Outlook for Mac 15.8.1, a few PCs (each with the latest version of Outlook) and an iPhone and iPad. My calendar is also shared with colleagues, including edit permissions.

I have several times deleted all the entries and recreated them, the last time using OWA. However, within a day or two the entries are once again duplicated. This does not happen with non-recurring entries.

I don't want to disconnect my various devices as this is more inconvenient than the duplicate entries.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can track down the issue / prevent it?

Thanks, Richard

RE: Unable to Activate Microsoft Outlook for Mac (15.1.8)

Hi Nikh,

According to your description, your organization has deployed single sign-on (SSO). In SSO environment, when federated users sign into Office 365 service, they will be redirected to on-premsie security token service (STS) infrastructure for authentication. When activating Outlook for mac, you will also be redirected to the STS infrastructure for authentication. For this kind of issue, based on our experience, it is hard to resolve it from client side. We need to involve the Office 365 admin to check SSO related settings.

Are you the Office 365 admin? If not, you can contact your admin about how your organization deploy SSO. To further analyze the issue and protect your privacy, I have sent a private message to request your configuration information (such as your identity provider, ADFS or 3rd party provider). To view the private message, please click Private messages on the right side of the community site -> Click the subject to view the message -> reply to the message. Please feel free to provide the information for further analysis.

The Microsoft officially supported scenario is to use ADFS to achieve SSO. If your organization is using any 3rd party SSO service/identity provider, the sign in authentication is controlled and managed by the 3rd party provider, and we cannot provide official support. You need to contact your Office 365 admin to resolve this issue. Thanks for your understanding and efforts.

Office 365 on Mac, unable to activate account

Hi all,

Yesterday I brought back my macbook Pro to its original settings, due to some other issues. Now I downloaded and reinstalled office 365 (Home), which I was already using. But when I try to activate my account, it seems that the field where I have to put my emailaddress is not working. When I click in this field to fill in my emailaddress, the text 'Typ uw e-mailadres' (Dutch) is not disappearing, but I have to delete it manually. When I enter my own address, it has the same colour as the original text in the field and the next-button is not working. Does someone have any advice?

Kind regards,

Bas Peeters

I've completed the uninstall and reinstall steps as indicated in steps 1-5.

I'm using the OneDrive for Business Mac sync client Preview and downloaded from the link you provided above.

Microsoft Office 2011, One Note and OneDrive for Business are the installed Microsoft Applications.

I clicked the Use Rich Formatting but don't see the Insert Image Icon. I have 2 screen prints to attached.  Since the reinstall the CPU is running at 92% again.

Thanks,

Robert

ok, so I did try #1 and it didn't work.

Later in the day, I rebooted and tried to activate with Outlook and now it is working! I am not sure if it was the reboot alone or a combo of #1 and a reboot.

If found the answer myself. I have turned of local folders.

In the ribbon bar, click “Outlook”—“Preferences”.

Click “General” in the pop-up window.

Then un-select the option “Hide On My Computer folders”.

Back to Outlook and the option should be available now.

I am using Outlook 15.8.2 on Mac OS 10.10.2.

My problem is that the Contacts Tab are all empty. If I look in "Adressbook" I can see "all folders on this computer" and I have two folders:

"Adress Book" and "Contacts OLM".

If I try tome mail someone I can mail from the adress book fine.

Any ideas what to do?

I am attaching a screenshot of my empty Contacts window:

Hi Johan,

As I understand it, you’ve added your Gmail account to your Outlook mail client, and your main concerns are about the Outlook client performance. (If I misunderstood anything, please feel free to correct me.)

Under this circumstances, I suggest you visit the Outlook IT Pro TechCenter for dedicated support. Currently, our community forum mainly focuses on Office 365 Online Services.

Thank you for your understanding.

Allen

When using gmail, the Gmail Sent Mail folder are not the same as "Sent Mails" folder

As per rcommendation from gmail, I have turned off save a copy of sent mail i sent mails folder.

However, now when I look inside the "Sent mails" folder in Outlook, it is empty

I have to go to "[Gmail]/Sent Mail". However, since I can't set which columns are visible, I can't have a quick view of who I sent a mesage to.

So, two problems:

1. I like to be able to customize columns view in mail folders

2. I like to have the "Sent Mail" folder to be the gmail Sent Mail folder.

Unable to delete emails when in "unread" view 15.8.x.

If you hit Command-Shift-o it gives you unread emails ... if you you try to delete the emails they do not get deleted from that view
