Re: Outlook Meeting Invite 'Online Meeting' button does not work

Hi Doug,

I’ll answer your questions separately:

Q1: For your #5 suggestion, are you saying to remove all of Office 2011 (all apps) and reinstall? Or, just Outlook?

A1: I would suggest you reinstall all of Office 2011, in case there is any conflict caused by the other Apps.

Q2: What program installs that button? If someone had Outlook but did not install Lync, would that button still appear (I'm guessing not)?

A2: installing Lync will install the button, and it will disappear if someone had Outlook but didn’t have Lync installed.

Q3: Do you think their URI is stale and causing button problems?

A3: Is the issue happened before the changing URI thing, or after (right after)?

To solve the issue, I suggest you perform a clean uninstall of Lync for Mac, then install it with the newest updates. For details, please refer to: How to perform a clean uninstall of Lync for Mac 2011.

Office 365 Calendar on Outlook 2011 (MAC) is not publishing correctly to exchange

I am a home user of Office 365 to synch activities between my wife's computer activities (Mac, iphone) and mine (PC, iphone).  My PC (Office 2010) and iphone synch fine.  My calendar publishes via office365 and my wife can see this on her mac in Outlook 2011.  However the calendar she has on her mac (outlook 2011 - "office365" calendar - not the "On My Computer Calendar") is not publishing correctly through exchange (office 365) back to me on my pc (i subscribe to her office 365 calendar).

Oddly new items which are added to her Outlook calendar on the Mac will publish correctly, however older items in the calendar do not.  Even if you edit an older item it does not republish.

She is not a user of icalc, but uses a third party calendar app on her iphone.  in Icalc both icloud and exchange service have been disabled (they had been enabled).

In Outlook (mac) she has only one account (office 365 Exchange account).  In "synch" services only the contacts are synched (Exhange).  Calendar is not synched.  I am thinking of synching this, but since this is only a synch between outlook and icalc, i don't think it affects my problem (which is an exchange problem).  I am concerned that doing any unecessary synching might cause a problem with my wife's third party calendar app (duplication of entries or other).

map a network drive to SharePoint Online on a Mac

Hi guys!

Working on a O365 implementation. the environment has both mac and pc.

We have a document library in sharepoint working on the PC with:

- A mapped drive/favorite.

-  Sharepoint workspace.

However we need the mac users in the office to be able to participate in sharing documents on some level.

- I have tried the Microsoft document connection. It looks good, but I cant delete files or create folders.

Does anyone know of a way to map a network drive from mac to sharepoint online? or maybe is there a 3rd party app that can help us?

Thanks

Dan

Hi Rt13,

From the description, to narrow down the root cause of the issue, try the following steps to check if the related/older items sync properly:
1. Use the default Calendar without a third party calendar application to sync the items.
2. Re-sync the calendar item information about the user account on the third part calendar application.
3. Sync another user account calendar item information with the third party calendar.

Thanks,
Ida Qiu

Hi Dan,

Regarding mapping a network drive on a Mac operating system, after doing more research, I found the following steps just for your reference, you can check if there is helpful for your question:

Map a network drive to Mac OS X that re-mounts after system reboot
This method allows you to reboot your Mac and have the mapped network drive automatically remount and appear on the desktop.
1. From the Finder, hit Command+K
2. Enter the path to the network drive you want to map, ie: smb://networkcomputer/networkshare and click ‘Connect’.
3. Enter your login credentials and click “OK”.
4. The drive is now mounted, but continue on to map for system reboot persistence.
5. Now enter into System Preferences, from the Apple menu.
6. Click on ‘Accounts’.
7. Click on “Login Items”.
8. Click on the + button to add another login item.
9. Locate the network drive you previously mounted and click “Add”.
10. Exit out of System Preferences.

Considering the situation referring to the Mac operating system, if there are more further and similar questions, to get a professional and efficient response, I recommend you contact the Mac support. This will be helpful for solving the issue quickly.

Thanks,
Ida Qiu

Hi Ida!

Thanks for your response. This does not seem to work? Are you able to verify that you can connect to sharepoint online via SMB?

It seems to fail for me each time, and does not even prompt me for username or password.

Thanks

Dan

Share Calender on Ipad

Is there is any way to view the share calender in Ipad as currently cannot see someone else but mine.

Re: Share Calender on Ipad

Hi Nahid,

Do you mean that you want to view other user's shared calendar (or the SharePoint calendar) via iPad?

Currently, ActiveSync can only sync calendars owned by user to mobile device, it means that there is not available to view the shared calendar on ActiveSync client (such as iPad).

In the same way, there is not available to view the SharePoint calendar on ActiveSync client. As a workaround, we can only use a browser from mobile devices to access a SharePoint calendar. I am sorry for the inconvenience to you.

Thanks,
Bourne Zhang

Hi Dan,

Regarding "verify that you can connect to SharePoint online via SMB", what did you mean by saying "SMB"? Did it mean the Microsoft SMB Protocol or Small & Medium Businesses?

If you mean the SMB Protocol, we have a group dedicated to dealing with the kind of the issue, I recommend you post the question on MSDN forum.

For more information about SharePoint Online, you can refer to the Microsoft SharePoint Online Service Description, download it from the following link:

Hi Miki,

After my research and testing, sync SkyDrive Pro is not available on Mac currently.
I suggest you submit feedback.
If the service is requested frequently, the product team may include it in the future releases.
Your time and efforts are highly appreciated.

Error Message "This message has been partially downloaded"

Dear Team,

My client got this error message on his Macbook - "This message has been partially downloaded. Get entire message". The email has partially been downloaded but all attachments stay grey and can't be opened or previewed.

There is a link on the above message "Get entire message" but it doesn't help. After a spinning loading indicator done, the message is still not downloaded.

Is there any solution for this issue?

Thanks and have a great day.

Regards,

Andrew Khor

Hi Andrew,

Before moving on I want to confirm the following information:
1. Does the user use Outlook 2011 or other client?
2. Has he updated his Outlook 2011 to the latest version?
3. Does this issue persist in Outlook Web App (OWA)?
4. What’s the size of the attachment?

Thanks,
August Sun

Hi Doug,

How are things going? Did the issue resolved?

Re: Outlook Meeting Invite 'Online Meeting' button does not work

OK so far (03/07/2013) I have escalated this to a MS support ticket.  We have removed/reinstalled Lync and the problem persists.  We removed MAC's Office 2011 and re-installed from original installation disks.  Before any updates were applied, we tried Online Meeting button.  Still did work, same behavior.  (btw, MS tech performed a remote desktop session so he could see all versions and see the problem and try a few variations of conferencing.  Nothing obvious came out of this, this seems to be a new issue).

So at this point I'm wondering how we get an older copy of Lync.  All of our Users have the latest version (check for updates often) and it seems that they are all using the most recent version (which could be a bug in that version).  So I've asked (no answer yet) Microsoft Tech for an older version (URI) so we can see at what point (which version) the problem started (we have been on Office 365 since late December 2012 and have had 2-3 Lync client updates on the MACs during that time - most issues seem to point to a period of time when the User's last updated their Lync client). But again, the older version does not seem to be available so that the user can reinstall that previous version.

Things are going fine thanks.  Since I have windows 8 running on Parallels Desktop, I might uninstall the Mac copy and reinstall on the Windows virtual machine instead so that I have access to all the applications.

Office on the iPad and iPhone

Hey O365ers,

My boss is pestering me about getting Office on his iPad. I want to make him stop :)

I have seen in the press that it is expected that Microsoft is going to release a version but no one seems to know when, or even if they will. So in the meantime, I am looking at a solution that is on the market in CloudOn? Anyone have feedback on it?

http://site.cloudon.com/

P.S. Would I be better off waiting for Microsoft to ship their version? Does anyone have any insight on when that may or may not be? Is it even in beta or alpha? Anything to get him to stop bugging me :)

Thanks for your help.  I agree that isolation is important, but i think it already is.  To clarify.  My wife runs a third party calendar app on her iphone, but she is not syncing that with her mac (we still haven't figured out how to do that on a mac, the provider may only provide syncing with outlook on a pc).   Right now we imported an outlook calendar into outlook on the mac and then she manually updates the calendar (our goal is to be able to share calendars between our two computers).  On her mac in My Calendars, she has two calendars.  One is "office365" which has quite a number of colored categories.  Below that is "on My Computer" which is empty.  The office 365 calendar is not fully publishing through exchange to my pc (where i have subcribed to her shared calendar in Outlook).    I can't really understand /figure out why some appointments seem to get published while other don't.  It doesn't appear to be based on "category".  New items seem to publish fine.  But some old items just don't.  Even if i change them slightly (date, category) and resave.

It might be items that were added the oldest (i.e. a long while back on the calendar we imported) that may be the problem.  But not sure.  The real issue is that we can't "trust" the calendar because it is inconsistent.

Thoughts on how to force outlook on the mac to check all the items in its calendar to make sure they have published?
