Hi there,

I've just put Office 365 University on my Macbook Pro. My laptop is pretty much brand new and fully up to date. When I click on the word logo on my screen it comes up with a window with a welcome and how would you like to start . I go to click on the sign in but it just pops up a window with a loading thing then freezes. I have to force quit it to get out of it. What have I done wrong? Please help!!!

Hi Ailesh,

In regard to the issue, this could be caused by various reasons. To solve it, please try the steps below:

  1. Please check if you have internet connectivity when you first open the Word App. Please note that when we first open the Office desktop App after installed, we’ll need to use our Office 365 credentials to activate the Office copy.
  2. The issue could also be caused by the Office desktop client is not set up correctly. If step1 is not working, please try uninstall the Office from your Mac, then install it and try again.

To anyone, I have a user using Mac Mail not sure on the version.

He is sync using the pop setttings below.

server name:pod51011.outlook.com
port 995
Encryption method SSL

His Inbox sync fine and he can see his inbox items, but his sent items does not show up on his Sent box on his Mac mail client.

when he checked on OWA he can see his sent e-mails, is there a way that we can sync the Sent items from OWA to his sent box on his Mac mail client.

Hi Ipodtrip,

I understand that all the sent items has not been showing in the Sent Items folder in your Outlook 2011 client, and these emails can be shown in Outlook Web App well.

To narrow down the root cause of the issue, please refer to the following steps:
1) Check if the sent items are listed in other folders in Outlook 2011.
2) If not, delete your Office 365 account from Outlook 2011, then set up the account in Outlook 2011 again by referring to the following article: http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/gg471164.aspx
3)Make sure your computer you are using has installed the latest updates.

If the issue persist, may I know if this issue happened on other Mac computers?

Thanks,
Vivian Wang

Hi Taw,

Yes by default mobile browser user only can view Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files using Office Web Apps on most modern smartphones unless they use tablet which connect it to desktop browser.

Outlook 2011 - Email Syncing

I have a user that is continuously experiencing a problem with Outlook 2011.  I've rebuilt the identity numerous times and removed and recreated an identity. Only to have them work for a couple of weeks and experience the problem again.

It happened again this morning it is downloading all Inbox messages again. This is beyond frustrating.

I started Office 365 ProPlus trial, but like Tom, I can't find where to download Mac Office.

Global Address List and Calendar Views

First, I am a PC guy and we just recently migrated to Office 365.  So still fairly new.  We have several artists who have Mac Book Pros and Outlook 2011.  There are two issues that I can't figure out.

1) Why doesn't the Global Address List show up for the Mac Outlook users?  On my PC, using Outlook 2010, when I create a new email and hit To, I get a list of all the company employees.

2) We created a shared mailbox using Powershell and it works perfectly, well almost.  I have created custom calendar views under this mailbox (I am a member of the distribution group with rights to use the shared mailbox) and all PC users that have Outlook 2010 that have rights to use the shared mailbox can see these custom views.  However, my Mac Outlook 2011 members can not see these custom views.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

James

Edward,

I've been doing that for weeks and obviously that is not going to resolve it.  Do you have any other suggestions?  Something I have not been trying possibly?

Hi James,

According to the information, I noticed all the services you said have been working well in Exchange Online and Outlook 2010, and this issue only happened on Outlook 2011 for Mac. Therefore, I suggest you post this issue on Mac forum to get dedicated assistance and a better response.

Hi Tim,

In this scenario, I'd like to suggest you perform the following steps:

1. Add another user account in this Outlook 2011 client, and check if the problem persists.
2. Add this user account in other Outlook 2011 client or Outlook 2010 client.

The steps will help us narrow down the problem whether it is a separate Outlook client/user account issue.

Thanks,

Hi Hrvoje,

You can find the download link with the following steps:
1. Login to Office 365 admin center (https://portal.microsoftonline.com) with your Office 365 account and password.
2. Click service settings on the left navigation.
3. Click user software on the top navigation.
4. Click office for mac under software for mac, select the language and click download.
5. run the downloaded DMG file.

Hello Vivian, my user hasn't tried it yet. But the user has Mac Mail, Apple's E-mail client not Outlook 2011.

I'll let you know what happens after he delete that account and reinstall it.
